How weighted tables work

Weighted random tables let some results appear more often than others. Assign a weight of 6 to common outcomes, 3 to unusual ones and 1 to rare events, and TableRoll calculates the exact probability for every entry.

EntryWeightProbability
Common road event660%
Unusual traveller330%
Rare discovery110%

Relative weights do not need to add to 100. TableRoll normalises them automatically.

How TableRoll creates random results

All rolls happen in your browser using crypto.getRandomValues where available, which provides a cryptographically secure source of randomness. For weighted tables, TableRoll builds a cumulative weight map and selects the matching entry. For range-based tables, it rolls the chosen die and finds the matching range.

TableRoll publishes original, system-neutral content reviewed for clarity, coherence and copyright safety. We do not reproduce proprietary rulebooks, official adventure text, spell descriptions, monster statistics or trademarked setting material.
